Erasmus Charter for Higher Education 2014-2020
POLICY STATEMENTS
The European Higher Education Institution IES Galileo has been awarded the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education for the Erasmus+ programme 2014-2021.
As the Erasmus+ programme provides direct support to those wishing to study or train and to those projects supporting cross-border cooperation between higher education institutions, our Institution is committed to full and active participation in it for the benefit of our students and our Institution.
In regard to our students’ mobility , SMT at work placements, we would like to encourage participation by more diverse student body and to introduce new and less familiar study destinations.
On the other hand, our staff’s mobility is a priority for effective partnership relationship management, support of co-operation projects, professional training, teaching delivery and programme development.
We also recognize the importance of regular monitoring and evaluation of our international activities in order to inform and influence our future activities, practice, policy and strategy.
Erasmus+ plays an important role in our Institution in some priority areas:
- Improving the quality and relevance of higher education
- Strengthening quality through mobility as we believe that training periods abroad are very useful for students and teachers allowing them to get specific knowledge or training in maritime field.
- Innovation: our graduates and teachers with experiences abroad are usually more innovative and can help to innovate our educational activities.
- Employability: training periods abroad are very useful to obtain soft skills such as autonomy, critical thinking, creativity, etc.
- Professional Development: We believe that our students having had an experience abroad have more opportunities because they can have access to the broader European Union labour market rather than to the limited national market.
